Three favourite Web comics on Webtoon

Hello fam! I know this post might not be the usual type of post I put up. However my life has been such a mess I needed something to unwind with, and without putting any effort in to it.

So I discovered Webtoon, which is a free app in the app store so you can get your hands on it easily.

My discover wasn’t the app itself, even though I was pretty surprised finding it, it was what I have found in it.

I found three comics on Webtoon that may help you unwind or just the distract you from your current problem so you could think straight afterwards. It does help if you wanna see things more clearly.

Side note : your mental health matters so don’t forget to relax in between situations. It is hard but possible.

This post might contain spoilers however I try to be as spoiler-free as possible.

So let’s continue… Shall we?

Lore Olympus: is a Web comic played in the Greek mythology. However there’s a twist. They are in today’s fashion (aka 21st century clothing) whereas the humans (mortals) are in still in early centuries (propably before Christ).

The artist chose one of the best legend to put in the main focus – in my opinion – which is the relationship between Hades and Persephone. I have to tell you this futuristic twist on their clothes and objects are pretty cool and the art style is pretty dope too. I recommend you to read it or at least give it a chance.

It is a romantic type of comic, which I am not really into usually, however this novel influenced me to look around a bit further.

This led me to…

Devil Is A Handsome Man : is also a romantic novel however it is full of mysteries and unclear scenes that keeps you there because you wanna know what exactly happened.

However, at first, I thought it was one of many web comics… But I refused to stop reading so I kept reading.. And thank god I did because it became so exciting after chapter 5 or 4 so I just couldn’t stop I finished this comic within a day (just like the previous comic).

It is also in the romance category however I think it also should be classed as fantasy, mystery or detective category because there are a lot of dots to connect.

If you a person who likes strong female characters as a main character I recommend this for you. Our main character, Xo – short for Xolia – is trying to find out who she really is and who exactly was she.

After this I wanted something different, no too much but different enough to not finish it within a day…

… And I found…

Love Advice from The Great Duke of Hell

I know this is a mouthful but this one leans into more of fantasy and comedy category. It is still romantic but in a different way.

It is a notice me sempai situation but it’s a guy “chasing” after his crush. Our main character is into occult for this reason and one day he successfully summons the Great Duke of Hell, which I can tell, not many mortals are capable of.

Without going into much detail and spoiling it for you (the title is enough spoiler imo), there are going to be scenes where you may feel awkward, or find it funny or just shake your head. It’s not exactly a comedy piece but I’ll admit it can be funny at times.

I love Web comics because I know it is hard drawing digitally and looking at the different between a newer chapter and an older chapter, seeing how much their art style improved over making the chapters feels me with joy and it is fascinating to see.

These people have a particular style that also pulled me in on reading there work. For me, it takes more than just a great art style to pull me in on the story. You won’t regret reading these however these are not for everyone.

Note: I am not sponsored by any of these artist who created these comics. Nor is Webtoon.

Mobile phone games you should try- with caution

Most people nowadays have at least one or two games on their phone.

Mobile phone games can be relaxing or annoying to the point you get frustrated. I collected some games which might not be new to you or you might have heard of them before. This list will be updated with a few more games so I apologise if it’s not long enough yet.

Before I continue, I would like to state that as much as games are fun, your priorities should come first.

I used to play a lot with this game and I am really fond of it too. Homescapes is about renovating and restoring an old mansion our main character, Austin, grew up in. This game is a single player but if you are online you can enter tournaments which can give you prizes, and you also get daily prizes, which are boosters. To restore the mansion you need to complete tasks, to compete a task you need stars. The way you get a star by playing a mini game, which is similar to Candy Crush, and you need to make matches of similar items.

You need to get trough different levels and the difficulty of the level always changes. You can easily get through the levels by using boosters. If you loose on the level you loose a life out of five lives.

It is a neat game if you turn away from the “pay to win” aspect of this game. Regardless of the daily rewards and the tourney prizes you won’t always be able to get through the stage without boosters, unless you try very hard. I needed to do a level 10 times before I beat the level…

Badland: is a cute adventure mobile phone game that is also available for Xbox and PlayStation 4 and other platforms as well. This is a single player and a multiplayer game in one.

I used to own this game too and I loved it and it is pretty straight forward game.

If you played Ori and The Blind Forest then I think you would love this game too because Badland has a foresty background to it.

There are different levels you need to complete, however some of the levels are locked and you can only unlock it if you buy certain levels. They’re not that expensive to buy though.

I used to play this game a lot but I am not up to date with the changes within the app.

My little Pony: OK you might have heard of this game. Yes you can laugh all you want but this game is still cute. If you didn’t know The My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is based on the animated My Little Pony series developed by Gameloft for iOS and Android devices.

This is a single player game with multiplayer interactions. The difference between this game and the previous one is you can only get prizes by leveling up. Obviously you still will get competitions and fulfilling tasks will also lend you rewards as well as the daily game called Balloon Pop which I think you can count as a daily reward but you won’t get it unless you pop the balloons.

This game is the most enjoyable for me is because 1, it’s cute 2, doesn’t take long to level up 3, it’s about ponies.

As much as I love these free to download games there are a few cons of these.

The other side of the industry

Micro-transactions are one of the few things I dislike about these… Well of course they need to make money somehow but then it is not a AAA game on the Xbox and I don’t like the thought of my hard earned money landing into an already rich coperation’s pocket.

I wouldn’t be fussed about it if the animators had better conditions to work in.

In the eyes of the corporation, these people are disposable. They are just bodies, they can be replaced by another body. These companies will do anything to keep their shareholders happy.

I’m not saying that you can’t buy some of the bundles you want in your game, because I have done that before, but as soon as I knew the things I just mentioned I felt a bit bitter about spending my money on any of these games.

Here are some useful links you can read too. 👇🏻

Dark side of working in the video game industry: 100-hour weeks and on-the-spot sackings

76% of game developers still labor under crunch conditions

Mental health and physical health of the developers are also important, not just satisfying the greedy shareholders.

How would YOU feel if you had to work in conditions like that?

Well… This post turned dark quite quickly. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mummies and Gaming

Showing the graphics of Life is Strange.*

As much as you might hate your partner for playing his xbox or PlayStation, you gotta admit it sure looks fun.

Have you ever played with the thought of playing games just for fun? May be to distract yourself because your worries getting really into your head? Why not just give it a chance?

Sure it might pop some questions in your mind such as : What happens to my child when I am playing? And the chores? Etc…

You can always play whilst your child is asleep or ask someone to look after your baby until you play a certain amount of time, or play after you have done your chores. Sure it is easier said than done but I managed to play and unlock some achievements and unwind whilst my son also watching me in the process. So instead of whining, you might just try to enjoy yourself in the process.

You might have heard of the games I am about to mention but first you might need a few essentials such as an Xbox or a PlayStation. You also need to know what type of games you might be into. Is it a multiplayer or single player? Is it an open world game or linear?? Before you get confused about it I will list a few open world games and a few linear games too. Open world games:

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an open world game with a lot of interesting side quests, it is a good game if you like slaying monsters, humping bitches and do some detective work. It also has the butterfly effect which means your decisions have an impact on the story and the communities within the game. If you’d really like to get your money’s worth I would recommend buying the game of the year edition. It is truly an amazing game with good graphics.
  • Assassins Creed Origins: it is also an open world game, I personally haven’t played with this one yet but I had to choose from all of the Assassins Creed games I would choose to play this, because it does have amazing graphics and visuals. It might have to much to explore but then I still haven’t explored everything in the witcher 3 so who really am I to judge?
  • Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is a kids’ game and it might just the kick you need if you just started playing games. I own this game and my only problem with this is the colours. Man if you hate vivid colours ; which to be honest are not a problem usually for me; then this game might not be the game for you but this game is fairly easy, colourful and cute, also easy to control.. Most of the times.

Linear games:

  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy is also a kids game with a semi-open and I used to play it as a child before they made this excellent remake. It looks appealing and has everything you need to get started with games too and also easy to control. I get really giddy just talking about it.
  • Rayman: this is also a linear game and I also used to play it as a child (on my PlayStation) but it wasn’t as close to my heart as Spyro was however I did enjoy it. I do recommend it though because you have nothing to loose with this game.
  • Life is Strange: if you want something you can relate to or don’t know how to get started I recommend buying Life is Strange because it is a role playing game and it helps getting rid of anxiety of playing games, which I do get anxiety and panic attacks <- quick insight into my blog name – whilst playing especially when you need to be stealthy and this game just eased it for me I do not have that much of a problem anymore. The graphics are good but some times it lacks when it comes to certain aspects of the game, such as trees and secondary characters but all in all a good story and game. Your choices also have an impact on the storyline.

Disclaimer: Please note that I am not a professional gamer nor I want to be one but I DO enjoy playing games and it is also a hobby for me when I don’t do my chores.
